Welcome to my old 3D work, here is some of the work I did durin my time at University. As I rout out more work from the masses of CD's and DVD's I have, it will be put up here.

Here is my first ever head that i tried to model based on a tutorial for Maya.

And another image, this shows the wires.

This model was based on a tutorial, but the modeling techinique was not box modeling, it was some weird way of creating a flat polygon based on the profile of the template image, then this is criss-crossed with edges and then you just pull out the verts to make your basic shape. The it turnes into a box modeling job.

Next up was my second attempt at a head, but this time based on a line drawing I scaned from an anatomy book, this was a straight box model attempt, and as you can see my first head is alot better.

I dont have any wire shots, but I can tell you the mesh was messy.

Soon after this my project was handed to at university, the task was to make a 2000tri version of myself, the model was to be based on refrence photographs taken in the studio, and then the textures were to be taken from these photos too.

My final model (shown above) came in at 1990 quads, under budget, but to get to the final model I had to create 3 heads and various other bits over and over to eventually get them to the stage that I was happy.

My first attempt a head based on my photographs didnt have enough flowlines but was using over half my poly budget. Over three itterations I managed to get the poly count down and make the edge loops flow.

Durin the modeling stages for the head I broke it up with the modeling of the body and other parts. I actually forun the body harder to get rite than the head, but looking back the body looks like it had less time spent on it than I actually did, and is of quite poor quality.

While doing this model is learnt alot, including the basic set of poly editing tools, and the texture tools. Using Maya compared other 3D editing packages seemed to make more sense to me in the way you navigate, and use the tools, especialy comapared to 3D Studio.

Eventually I got the final model and handed it in. I was pleased with the over all model, but I could have done more looking back.

I did do other models for a second project but, I spent no time on them due to time constraints (and the actual need for the models eventually).

After the project I carried on modeling but only every other day and when I had no other uni work. I started to model a female torso but it didnt turn out like I wanted.

Im also in the middle of making a low poly character, based on the PSP version of Everybodys Golf. At the moment its too high poly and un textured with the hands missing. But I lke the way its going, and shes proving to be quite a nice model (I think, maybe im too close to the project).

Here is a collection of 3D stuff Ive done for other projects but that were not game related, and not done in Maya. The images were done in a cool little programme called Sketch Up its easy to use and works great with my graphics tab.

"Drugs Information" Museum Installation

Here is one of the interactive booth's designed to teack people about drugs. The booth has five screens, each one having its own controlle system based on a scroll ball and four coloured buttons. Each screen has a different purpose. The first askes ten questions about a particular drug, then the next screen lets you play a game, the third shows you pictures of the drugs with information about what they do to the body and what effects you have when taking the drug. The fouth plays another game to teach you more about the drug and the last screenasks you the same ten questions as the first but hopefully you will have learnt the answers durin your time playing and listerning in the booth. If you get a good score you are given a ticket which you can exchange for things from the museum/gallery shop.

Along with the interactive booths there is a dedicated cinema screen showcasing short films and documentarys made by Ex drug users and familys that have had a drug user amongst them.

Also there will be an art installation, and like the cinema it will showcase art and photography from Ex users and family members.

Here are two shots of the whole instalation, first being from an eye line point of view, and the second a birds eye view.

Next up is some stuff I did in Maya to test a new rendering engine called Maxwell this programme is easy to install and easy to use, the only thing is the render times, on my rig it takes around 3 to 4 hours to get a grainy render that sort fo represents what I wanted.

I did do some other renders, but alas im unable to find them.

Last but not least here is a scaled version of my bedroom at home :) very small.
